This immersive one-week camp introduces apprentices to the foundations of competitive robotics engineering through hands-on design, building, and problem-solving. Using the VEX IQ platform, students learn how engineers approach complex challenges-by analyzing requirements, designing solutions, and refining ideas through testing and iteration.
Apprentices move beyond simple building to think strategically about how and why robots work, exploring the trade-offs involved in speed, stability, strength, and precision. Through collaborative challenges, they practice turning ideas into functional systems and improving designs based on performance feedback.
By the end of the camp, apprentices develop a strong understanding of the engineering design process, gain confidence working with mechanical systems, and build the critical thinking and teamwork skills needed for real-world robotics competitions and future STEM pathways.
