Our World is Evolving Faster than Ever

What is Steamoji?

Technology, AI and global connectivity are reshaping the way we live and work. The next generation will face challenges we can’t yet imagine. Alongside new skills, they’ll need adaptability, creativity and resilience to lead the way.

Steamoji is the maker academy for kids ages 6-14 that equips children with the hands-on STEM skills and a maker mindsets to solve real-world problems.

Gregg Sayer

Meet Gregg "Gmoji" Sayer, our enthusiastic Academy Director at Steamoji Kerrisdale. Gregg is married with three children and is a former sports tech entrepreneur, a former PAC president/chair, a former digital marketing strategist, a UBC Sauder alum and a prolific - and we mean prolific - Dad Joke dispenser. Ask him about his Great-Uncle, Trevor Wadley, a bonafide genius / Master Maker.

“At Steamoji Kerrisdale, families can count on my commitment that they will always find an academy that is welcoming and full of wonder, fun, flow and laughter. As a father of three children, I am 100% on board with Steamoji’s compelling vision to train the next generation of builders, makers, inventors and entrepreneurs. If I could magically blanket the world with future-facing STEM skills and a growth mindset, I would, but I’m going to first start with 1,700 square feet and a community of bright apprentices right in the heart of beautiful Kerrisdale.”

AI is everywhere — but what actually is it, and how can your child use it now?

In this camp, young makers pull back the curtain on artificial intelligence. They'll learn how AI thinks, where it shows up in everyday life, and how to put it to work in their own projects. Then comes the fun part: teaching a computer to see. Using a webcam and a few lines of code, campers will build their very own AI-powered creation — something that recognizes, reacts, and responds to the real world.

By the end, your camper won't just know about AI. They'll have built with it.

No experience needed. Just curiosity.

Availability3 spots leftSuggested Age5+

Designed for girls who love to create or are just starting to discover that they can.

Miss-ion Possible is an architecture-themed STEAM camp where girls collaborate to design and build their own “community of the future.”

Led by committed female facilitators, campers will learn how to take an idea from concept to creation: brainstorming, sketching, prototyping, 3D modeling, engineering, coding, and fabrication with tools like 3D printers and laser cutters.

Each camper will design and build a structure they imagine - a home, school, or a rocket launchpad - and contribute their creation to a shared community. At the end of the week, they’ll take home their completed build (or perhaps trade with a new friend).

But this camp goes beyond gaining new skills and completing projects. As girls create together toward a shared purpose, they build confidence, form friendships, and begin to see themselves as the kind of people who can build anything they imagine and solve any problem that comes their way. This camp intentionally creates a space where their ideas are valued and where they learn that working together - with good friends or even girls they’ve just met - makes those ideas even stronger.

Why does this all matter? Because the future needs her ideas. Let’s get building!

Note: While the theme stays the same, campers will be split into two groups based on age: more accessible projects for 5-7 year-olds and more advanced projects for 8-12 year-olds.

Skills: Prototyping, Coding, Engineering, 3D Modeling, 3D Printing, Laser Cutting, Collaboration, Communication, Growth Mindset

  • Explore circuits, batteries, LEDs, and more
  • Collaborate to combine their creations into one shared Robot Metropolis

This is more than just building projects, campers will learn to think like engineers, problem-solve like designers, and collaborate like real-world architects and robotics teams.

Creativity meets coding. Engineering meets imagination. Welcome to RoboCity!
