Skill pathways
A new learning experience.
Technological change is accelerating. Many parents recognize STEAM subjects (science, technology, engineering, arts and math) are fundamental in preparing their children for the careers of the future, but see schools more focused on traditional studies. Steamoji’s 400-hour curriculum is designed to fill the gap in a structured and reinforcing fashion across each subject pathway. Students are taught basic skills, then encouraged to practically apply them in the spirit of “Build to Solve™”.

Why steamoji Works
Steamoji students will be ahead of the curve by gaining essential skills for the 21st-century while learning how to tackle their generation’s global challenges.
While there are other camps introducing STEAM concepts, there is no other
structured program like Steamoji which takes an elementary school child through
400 hours of reinforcing projects over a 5-year time period.

DIRECTOR OF North Vancouver
Stacy Fish
Stacy Fish, Owner/Director
Hello, I am Stacy and I am excited to be opening the next Steamoji Franchise right here in North Vancouver. I have lived in Vancouver for 23 years and on the north shore for the last 12 and it’s the best place I have ever lived. I love the sense of community here and working with young kids to bring out their potential is one of my favorite things.
My work background includes 20 years as an Assistant Director for Film and Television. Being an AD is all about collaborative creative problem solving and communication. There are around 200 people working on set in over 18 different departments and Assistant Directors coordinate with all of them. I’ve had to figure out how to shoot scenes with everything from babies to grizzly bears, with the cast and crew on the side of a cliff, with real explosions and visual effects…all while keeping things on budget and rescheduling on the fly for weather changes and other complications as they arose. Of course, I didn’t do any of that by myself – I did it by being curious and bringing other people, and their expertise to bear. This is exactly what having an open mindset and embracing challenges is all about.
For the last 10 years I’ve worked in 3D animation as a lighter and compositor. This is a STEM job and it’s why I wanted to get into Steamoji. I wish I had exposure to these skills when I was younger. Here in Vancouver, there are really great tax incentives for post-production. As a result, there are thousands and thousands of jobs in visual effects, animation and gaming. All of these jobs revolve around the creative use of computers. Even as an artist, I benefited from being comfortable with technology and knowing a bit about coding - this skill will be indispensable for the jobs of the future.
The next generation will need to be highly adaptable. Entire industries are being turned on their head with new technology and the pace of this change is accelerating. They are going to need coding, math and computer skills in ways that we don’t fully understand yet. I want to help our apprentices develop their confidence at solving problems and I can't wait to see what they build with us.
